LEWISTON, Maine - The Bates women's squash team followed up last night's win over Bowdoin College with a convincing 7-2 victory over visiting Wellesley College Saturday night at the Bates Squash Center. The win puts the Bobcats over the .500 mark on the season at 9-7, while Wellesley fell to 9-8 with the loss.
The Bobcats won the first six positions, led again by Senior Nessrine Ariffin (Penang, Malaysia), who defeated Wellesley's Sarah Zhang 3-0 in straight games. In the second position, Myriam Kelly (Bronx, N.Y.) stormed out to a 2-0 lead, and recovered from a close 12-10 loss in the third game to win the second spot 3-1.
Bates scored points in the next four positions, as Lesea Bourke (Greenwich, Conn.), Emma Dunn (Bellevue, Wash.), Charlotte Cabot (Dover, Mass), and Lauren Williams (Bulawayo, Zimbabwe), each won 3-0 in straight games.
Wellesley's two points came courtesy of Ruby Feng and Kate Loftus. Bates will next to travel to Colby on Wednesday, February 4th for a 5:00 pm match.
