Women's squash rolls past Mount Holyoke, Amherst

SOUTH HADLEY and AMHERST, Mass. -- The No. 15 nationally ranked Bates women's squash team moved over the .500 mark on the season with a 2-0 day in Western Massachusetts on Saturday, rolling 9-0 past No. 26 Mount Holyoke before downing No. 18 Amherst 7-2 later in the day.

The Bobcats (5-4) surrendered only one game in the win over the Lyons, then won at the first seven positions on the ladder at Amherst.

Seniors Nessrine Ariffin (Penang, Malaysia) and Myriam Kelly (Bronx, N.Y.) swept both of their opponents on the day by 3-0 scores at the first and second positions in the lineup, respectively.

Senior Chloe Mitchell (Chatham, N.J.) did the same at the No. 4 position, as did sophomore Emma Dunn (Bellevue, Wash.) at No. 5.

Also undefeated on the day were senior Lesea Bourke (Greenwich, Conn.) at No. 3, junior Lauren Williams (Buluwayo, Zimbabwe) at No. 6 and sophomore Charlotte Cabot (Dover, Mass.) at No. 7.

Bates plays at Williams on Sunday (Jan. 11) at noon.
