BRUNSWICK, Maine – Bates College women's squash took all of its points in straight sets to defeat Bowdoin College, 7-2, on Friday night at the Lubin Family Squash Center.
The 10th-ranked Bobcats (1-1) last lost to the 19th-ranked Polar Bears (2-2) on Jan. 27, 2009.
Juniors Nessrine Ariffin (Penang, Malaysia) and Myriam Kelly (Bronx, N.Y.) held down the top two spots for the visitors as Ariffin beat Rachel Barnes, 11-2, 11-9, 11-7, on court No. 1 and Kelly won 11-7, 11-4, 11-5 at No. 2 against Sarah Nelson.
The Bobcats emerged victorious at the four through eight positions as senior captain Rakey Drammeh (New York, N.Y.), junior Lesea Bourke (Greenwich, Conn.), first-year Emma Dunn (Bellevue, Wash.), first-year Charlotte Cabot (Dover, Mass.), and sophomore Lauren Williams (Bulawayo, Zimbabwe) won on those courts in order.
