LEWISTON, Maine -- The Husson College baseball team pounded out 23 hits en route to a 17-4 defeat of Bates College Monday at Leahey Field.
Justin Spenc had four hits, including two triples and a double, and teammate Sean Brawn also had four hits for the Eagles (25-14). Danny White and Adam Sheeham both had three. Husson sent 15 batters to the plate in the sixth inning and scored eight runs to lead 14-0.
Chris Pease earned the win for Husson, throwing five shutout innings on two hits and striking out two. Bates first-year Ben Thayer (1-1) earned the loss in his first collegiate start.
Adam Worrall and Brian Mahoney had two hits apiece for the Bobcats (10-17).
Bates plays a doubleheader at UMaine-Farmington Tuesday at 2 p.m.
