WENHAM, Mass. -- Sophomore Sarah Peters (Acton, Mass.) and first-year Caroline Thomas (Barrington, R.I.) each scored three goals as the Bates College women's lacrosse team rolled to a 16-4 victory at Gordon College on Thursday.
The Bobcats (4-1) jumped out to a 6-2 halftime lead, and poured it on in the second half, outscoring the Fighting Scots (3-3) 10-2.
First-year goalkeeper Katie Smarse (Lincoln, N.H.) had five saves and allowed two goals after replacing sophomore starter Katie Nickerson (Windham, N.H.), who had two saves.
Also scoring multiple goals for Bates were sophomore Molly Wagner (Longmeadow, Mass.) and junior Katherine Farmer (Madison, Conn.), with two apiece.
Senior Katie Unger (Concord, N.H.), sophomore Jeanne Lothrop (Andover, Mass.), junior Hannah Meyer (Concord, N.H.), sophomore Rachel Harmeling (North Reading, Mass.), sophomore Julie Berman (Concord, N.H.) and junior Meg Coffin (Westford, Mass.) all scored additional goals for Bates.
The Bobcats will next play at Tufts on Saturday, April 1 at 12 p.m.
