LEWISTON, Maine -- Sophomores Molly Wagner (Longmeadow, Mass.) and Rachel Harmeling (North Reading, Mass.) scored three goals and had one assist apiece as the Bates College women's lacrosse team downed the University of Southern Maine 18-4 in a non-league contest Wednesday night at Campus Avenue Field.

Scoring two goals apiece for Bates were first-year Caroline Thomas (Barrington, R.I.), first-year Danielle Cormier (Nashua, N.H.), first-year Rachel Greenwood (Williamstown, Mass.) and senior Katie Unger (Concord, N.H.). Thomas also had an assist and sophomore Jeanne Lothrop (Andover, Mass.) registered three points on a goal and two assists.

It was the second win in as many nights for the Bobcats (2-0), who will play at Wesleyan University on Saturday at 1 p.m. in their first NESCAC game of the season.

The Huskies (0-2) host the University of New England on March 21.

First-year Mindy Morneault (Eagle Lake, Maine) scored twice for USM, while junior Sarah Trent (Chanhassen, Minn.) and junior Ashley Dyer (Harrison, Maine) had one apiece. Sophomore Katie Quartuccio (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) made 14 saves in net, while sophomore Miranda Coffey (Bowdoin, Maine) made four more saves.

First-year Katie Smarse (three saves) and sophomore Katie Nickerson (two saves) split time in goal for Bates.
