LEWISTON, Maine -- Bates dominated the run of play but couldn't find the back of the net Tuesday night, settling for a scoreless draw against visiting Husson in non-conference play at Russell Street Field.
Bates (2-2-1) pushed for a breakthrough from the opening minutes and carried that pressure into the second half, out-shooting Husson 8-1 after the break. Junior
Eleanor Martin (Oilville, Va.) tested Husson (2-3-2) early in the second period, firing wide right in the 47th minute. Senior captain
Ruby Hill (Berkeley, Calif.) had a look in the 55th minute, while junior captain
Gwyn Jamison (Steamboat Springs, Colo.) was the Bobcats' most persistent threat, forcing saves on bottom-right attempts in the 62nd, 68th, and 87th minutes.

Keelan Mader (Sturbridge, Mass.) also had a shot saved low to the right in the 65th minute, while first-year
Whitney Ladich (Scottsdale, Ariz.) and Martin each sent late attempts over the crossbar in the closing minutes.
Bates also held the edge in corner kicks, earning seven to Husson's four, but couldn't convert the additional opportunities into goals.
Senior
Sydney Litney (Schaumburg, Ill.) went the distance in goal for Bates, keeping a clean sheet for the Bobcats.
The Bobcats out-shot the Eagles 15-2 on the night, including an 8-0 advantage in shots on goal, but Husson goalkeeper Gabriella Smith made eight saves to preserve the shutout.
Bates returns to NESCAC play on Saturday at 11 a.m., when they travel to Wesleyan.
