Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Tia Day

Women’s soccer’s comeback at Hamilton falls short, 3-2

CLINTON, N.Y. – A pair of second-half goals from first-year Whitney Ladich (Scottsdale, Ariz.) was not enough, as the Bates women's soccer team's comeback fell short in a 3-2 loss to Hamilton Saturday in NESCAC play.

Hamilton (2-1, 1-1 NESCAC) struck first in the 24th minute, when Lila Sullivan scored her first goal of the day to give the Continentals a 1-0 advantage. Hamilton carried that lead into halftime.

Bates (1-2, 0-2 NESCAC) wasted little time responding after the break. Just 30 seconds into the second half, Ladich scored to bring the Bobcats level at 1-1, with junior captain Gwyn Jamison (Steamboat Springs, Colo.) providing the assist.

Ladich found the back of the net again approximately five minutes later, giving Bates its first lead of the afternoon at 2-1.

The Bobcats held the advantage into the final 10 minutes, but Hamilton rallied late. Sullivan scored her second goal in the 80th minute to tie the game at 2-2 before completing her hat trick in the 86th minute with the eventual game-winning goal.

Hamilton finished the afternoon with a 19-7 advantage in shots, including an 11-4 edge in shots on goal.

Sophomore goalkeeper Brady Jacobson (Weston, Mass.) made eight saves for the Bobcats.

Bates will look to bounce back Friday, Sept. 19, when the Bobcats travel to the University of Southern Maine for a non-conference matchup.
