GORHAM, Maine – First-year
Izzy Rudders' (Williamsburg, Va.) first collegiate goal proved to be the difference as Bates earned a 1-0 victory over the University of Southern Maine on Saturday afternoon.
Rudders found the back of the net 32 minutes into the first half, scoring off an assist from senior
Olivia Becker (Woodbridge, Va.) to give the Bobcats the lead.
Bates (2-2) and the Huskies (3-3-1) battled evenly throughout the afternoon, with the Bobcats holding a narrow 17-16 advantage in shots. Bates also edged USM in shots on goal, 6-5.
Senior
Sydney Litney made four saves to earn the shutout victory in goal for the Bobcats.
Bates returns home Tuesday to host Husson at 7 p.m. on Russell St. Field.
