HADLEY, Mass. -- 141 student-athletes from Bates College's varsity winter teams have received 2026 NESCAC Winter All-Academic honors (up from 118 in 2025), announced Wednesday by the New England Small College Athletic Conference.
Over 1,500 student-athletes have been named to the Winter All-Academic Team. To be honored, an individual must have reached sophomore academic standing, and be in good standing in their sport with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50 or equivalent on a 4.0 scale. Transfers must have completed one year of study at an institution. Lists of All-Academic honorees are provided by the athletic departments at each institution. The cumulative GPA on record as of the end of the Fall 2025 semester was used to determine eligibility for the honor.
Max Cory (Career High-Point Swimmer) and
Marrich Somridhivej (Swimmer of the Year) of men's swimming & diving earned both All-Academic and major NESCAC awards this season while 11 Bobcats in total landed All-NESCAC honors in conjunction with All-Academic acclaim.
Dennis Welte (men's squash) is one of six student-athletes to garner All-NESCAC honors or an individual award, and also be named to the All-Sportsmanship and All-Academic teams.
Founded in 1971, the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) consists of 11 liberal arts colleges and has consistently reflected its commitment to the values of athletics and academic achievement. The member colleges of the conference are Amherst College, Bates College, Bowdoin College, Colby College, Connecticut College, Hamilton College, Middlebury College, Trinity College, Tufts University, Wesleyan University, and Williams College.
