Elsa Daulerio is the Region 1 Player of the Year, head coach
Alison Montgomery is the Coach of the Year, and junior
Sarah Hughes joins Daulerio as a first team All-Region selection
as D3hoops.com released their All-Region teams on Monday.
Daulerio (Harpswell, Maine) is the first Bates women's basketball player selected as the Regional Player of the Year since
Meghan Graff '23 in 2022.
Daulerio, who previously earned the rare double honor of NESCAC Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, led the NESCAC champion Bobcats in both scoring (13.9 points per game) and rebounding (6.9 rebounds per game) this season. Her 77 blocked shots this year are the seventh-most in all of NCAA Division III. She finishes her Bates career as the program's all-time leading shot blocker (230), sixth-leading scorer (1,375), and third-leading rebounder (854).
Montgomery is the first Bates women's basketball coach to earn D3hoops.com Regional Coach of the Year honors since the award was first issued in 2006.
In her 11th year leading the team, she led the Bobcats to their most wins in one season (26) in program history, their second NESCAC title, and a bid to the NCAA Championship tournament's "Sweet 16." It's the second time Bates women's basketball has advanced to the Sweet 16 in the past three seasons and the fourth time overall. Montgomery and her staff also picked up NESCAC Coaching Staff of the Year honors earlier this month.
Hughes (Rumson, N.J.) adds first team All-Region honors to her post-season accolades. Previously named first team All-NESCAC, the dynamic guard averaged 11 points per game while shooting a career and team-best .473 from the floor. She was named the NESCAC Player of the Week three times this season, including after leading Bates to victory in the NESCAC tournament.
Players chosen to the D3hoops.com All-Region team are eligible for All-America selection.
This is the 25th year D3hoops.com has named an All-Region team and this year's All-America team will be the 29th annual All-America selections. The D3hoops.com All-American teams, along with those of the respective coaches' associations, are the only ones recognized in the NCAA record book.
The women's All-America team will be announced prior to the Division III women's basketball championship game, which is on Saturday, March 21.
