Bates Men’s Soccer Adds Filippo Begliardi Ghidini as Assistant Coach

LEWISTON, Maine — Bates College men's soccer head coach Ben Brewster has announced the addition of Filippo Begliardi Ghidini as an assistant coach ahead of the upcoming spring season.

"I am thrilled to welcome Filippo to Lewiston, and to the Bates Men's Soccer coaching staff," said Brewster. "His high-level playing and coaching experience, strong work rate, professionalism, and ability to connect with the Men's Soccer student-athletes will make him a valuable addition to the program. I look forward to working with Filippo, and welcoming him to the Bates community this spring."

Begliardi Ghidini arrives at Bates after serving as an assistant coach at Keiser University, where he helped guide the Seahawks to a 16-1-2 record, a SUN Conference regular-season and tournament championship, and a second-round appearance in the NAIA National Tournament. The Keiser coaching staff was recognized as the NAIA South Coaching Staff of the Year. His responsibilities included opponent scouting, match and performance analysis, game-day logistics, and the development of a GPS-based tracking dashboard to monitor player workload and fatigue.

In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Begliardi Ghidini has worked extensively in recruiting and player placement through YesWeCollege, serving as an intermediary for more than 25 student-athlete placements, with notable placements at the NCAA Division I level. He has recruited across ECNL, MLS Next, and international pathways, and co-created a gap-year program in Italy for U.S. players. He has also coached at the youth level with the Wellington Soccer Club (Fla.), leading U17 and U11 teams while conducting private and small-group training sessions.

"I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to join Bates College and reconnect with Coach Brewster, who had a meaningful impact on my development as a player," said Begliardi Ghidini. "Returning to work alongside him feels full circle, and I'm excited to help build something special with this program and community."

A former professional and Division I student-athlete, Begliardi Ghidini played collegiately at UMass Amherst and Merrimack College before competing professionally in Sweden, Finland, Greece, and Italy. He earned two NCAA Tournament appearances and multiple all-conference and all-region honors during his collegiate career. Begliardi Ghidini holds a master's degree in Business & Analytics from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, is fluent in Italian, Spanish, French, and English, and is currently pursuing his USSF D Coaching License.
