BRUNSWICK, Maine -- The Bates women's swimming and diving team took on their CBB rivals Colby and Bowdoin on Saturday, with a pair of relays standing out for the Bobcats. Bates ended up placing third at the event, getting outscored 189-105 by Bowdoin and 243-52 by Colby. The No. 16 nationally ranked Mules won the meet, outscoring runner-up Bowdoin 194.5-104.5.
Meet Highlights
- The Bates 200-yard medley relay team of sophomore Erin Barisonek (New Vernon, N.J.), junior Sarah Palmer (Brunswick, Maine), senior McKayla Kendall (Bangor, Maine), and senior captain Lianna Rosman (Bethesda, Md.) recorded a season-best time of 1:45.06, good for second place out of 10 entries.
- Also of note, the Bates 'B' 200-yard medley relay team of first-year Lily Dunn (New Canaan, Conn.), junior Amber Zeng (South Windsor, Conn.), senior Emma Burke (New Hartford, N.Y.), and sophomore Taylor Rolefson (Piedmont, Calif.) out-swam the Bowdoin 'A' relay, taking fourth place overall in 1:48.09.
- Palmer was the runner-up in the 100-yard breaststroke, recording a season-best time of 1:03.15. She also took second in the 200-yard breaststroke, touching the wall in 2:20.15.
- Sophomore Elena Trundy (Bath, Maine) swam a lifetime-best time of 1:07.63 in the 100 breast, good for fifth place.
- Burke grabbed fourth place in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:07.07 and the 100-yard butterfly in a season-best mark of 57.64 seconds.
- The Bobcats finished the meet strong with a runner-up showing in the 200-yard freestyle relay, as Dunn, Kendall, Tolefson, and Rosman recorded a season-best time of 1:37.29.
Bates turns its attention to the upcoming NESCAC Women's Championships, being held Feb. 12-15 at Wesleyan University's Webster Family Natatorium in Middletown, Conn.
