WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Bates women's track and field senior
Isabelle Demeritt turned in the performance of her career to date on Saturday, running the second-fastest 10,000 meters in program history to highlight the Farley Inter Regional Extravaganza for the Bobcats.
Meet Highlights
- Competing in her first 10K for Bates since 2022, Demeritt (Acton, Mass.) raced to the finish in 36:11.85. Her time was good for fifth place at the meet and second on the Bates all-time performance list behind only the great Katherine Cook '18. Cook finished national-runner up in the event in 2018 with her school-record time of 35:17.48. It's the third straight week that Demeritt has set a personal record, following her 5K time of 17:21.04 at the NESCAC Championships and her winning time of 4:43.16 in the 1,500 meters at the Pine Tree Classic. She now ranks 33rd in the country this year in the 10K.
- First-year Madison Alves (Stoneham, Mass.) won her section and was 16th overall in the 200 meters with her time of 25.95 seconds, good for eighth on the Bates all-time performance list.
- Sophomore Leah White (Ann Arbor, Mich.) won her section and was 14th overall in the 5,000 meters with a personal-record time of 17:48.80. Senior Phoebe Pohl (Weston, Mass.) paced the Bobcats in the event, finishing in 10th place with a time of 17:38.41.
- Junior Moriah Scharn (Dunstable, Mass.) took third in the 100-meter hurdles with a prelims time of 14.75 seconds and a finals time of 14.84 seconds.
- First-year Graca Bila (Westbrook, Maine) placed ninth in the 400-meter hurdles with a personal-record time of 1:06.56.
- First-year Campbell Johnson (Naples, Maine) finished fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 37-1.25 (11.31m).
- Junior captain Carli Ciavarelli (Ridgefield, Conn.) took second in the hammer throw with a heave of 164-3 (50.06m).
The Bobcats return to action on Thursday when they travel to Cambridge, Mass. for the MIT Final Qualifier.
