Carli Ciavarelli unleashed the best 20-pound weight throw of her collegiate career on Saturday, highlighting the Tufts "Last Chance" qualifying meet for women's track and field.
Ciavarelli (Ridgefield, Conn.) finished first in a field of 10 athletes with her personal-record toss of 57-2 (17.42m), good for third on the Bates all-time performance list in the event. She now only trails Bobcat legends
Vantiel Elizabeth Duncan '10 and
Keelin Godsey '06 in the annals of Bates history. Ciavarelli ranks 20th in NCAA Division III this year in the weight throw.
Senior
Isabelle Demeritt (Acton, Mass.) capped off her final indoor season in style, setting a new personal record in the 3,000 meters with a time of 10:00.56, good for sixth place at the meet and 50th in NCAA Division III this season.
Junior
Moriah Scharn (Dunstable, Mass.) was the other standout on Saturday, taking third in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.12 seconds.
Selections for the 2025 NCAA Division III Championships will be finalized Sunday evening.
