LEWISTON, Maine – Despite a 6-1 loss to No. 12 Middlebury, the Bates men's tennis team found a bright spot in Ben Adey's commanding victory at No. 4 singles Sunday at Merrill Gym.
Adey delivered a strong performance against Middlebury's Noah Lewis, controlling the match from the start and securing a 6-3, 6-3 victory. The Panthers (7-4, 3-1 NESCAC) proved why they are one of the top teams in the nation, taking five of the six singles matches in straight sets.
In doubles action, the Bobcats (3-9, 1-3 NESCAC) picked up a win at No. 3, as Tylan Ozkuzey and Eric Diop teamed for a hard-fought 7-5 victory. However, the visitors took the doubles point by winning the top two spots, including a tight 7-6 (7-5) battle at No. 2.
Bates will now hit the road for a visit to No. 9 Amherst this Saturday at noon.
