NEW ORLEANS -- Bates women's indoor track and field juniors
Moriah Scharn and
Carli Ciavarelli have both earned USTFCCCA All-Region honors in their respective events, as announced Wednesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
The top-5 individuals in each event from each region on the year-end Descending Order Lists earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each member of the region's top-3 relay teams.
Scharn (Dunstable, Mass.) picks up All-Region honors in the 60-meter hurdles, based on her season-best time of 9.10 seconds, achieved at the New England Division III Indoor Championship. She is the third-fastest 60-meter hurdler in Bates women's track and field history.
Ciavarelli (Ridgefield, Conn.) is an All-Region 20-pound weight thrower, based on her career-best toss of 57-2 (17.42m) at the Tufts "Last Chance" Meet on March 8th. She ranks third in Bates women's track and field history in the event, and will represent Bates this Friday at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
