Bobcats to Next Take on Florida Southern at 3PM

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Bates College men's tennis, playing the first of two scheduled matches Thursday, opened the day with a morning contest vs. Division II Saint Leo University at the USTA National Campus.

The Lions, ranked No. 6 in the ITA/NCAA Division II national poll, defeated the Bobcats by a 4-0 score to improve to 4-2 on the spring. The match was played to decision (first to four points).

In doubles action, the Bobcat duo of Nicolas Ozer and James Sacco proved triumphant in the No. 3 slot, defeating Saint Leo's Filippo Caporali (Fy.-Cesena, Italy) and Leonardo Pisa (Fy.-Riva di Solto, Bergamo, Italy), 6-3.

The Lions secured the team point, however, with victories in the remaining doubles matches. The match of the day came at the No. 1 position as Saint Leo's Kodai Kato (So.-Ichikawa, Chiba, Japan) and Vincent Thiel (Sr.-Orleans, France) outlasted Phillippe Kosyagin and Theo Sardain by a slim score of 7-6 (7-5).

Dylan Andrianaly (Sr.-Cagnessurmer, France) and Enes Kocu (So.-Ankara, Turkey) teamed up for a 6-4 win over Ben Adey and Evangelo Kapothanasis.

Completed singles results include:

(#1) Dylan Andrianaly (Saint Leo) def. Phillippe Kosyagin (Bates): 6-3, 6-1
(#2) Kodai Kato (Saint Leo) def. Theo Sardain (Bates) 6-1, 6-1
(#6) Filippo Caporali (Saint Leo) def. Nicolas Ozer (Bates): 6-2, 6-0
