JEFFERSONVILLE, Vt. -- Senior captain
Nic Hotermans placed 19th out of 85 competitors to pace the Bates alpine skiing teams in the slalom Saturday at the Saint Michael's Carnival, held at Smugglers' Notch.
Hotermans (Weston, Mass.) recorded a two-run combined time of 1:57.89, including a blistering second run of 56.77 seconds (third fastest in the field), to pick up 23 carnival points and 12 NCAA points. Senior
Wyatt Hoffman (Old Lyme, Conn.) also scored points for the Bobcats, taking 37th place with a two-run combined time of 2:03.87. His performance was good for 12 carnival points.
On the women's side, senior captain
Sequoia Anstine (Steamboat Springs, Colo.) just missed a top-30 showing, placing 31st with a two-run combined time of 2:05.96. Anstine was the only Bates women's alpine skier to complete both her runs on Saturday, earning 13 carnival points.
Combined, the Bates alpine and Nordic skiing teams scored 295 points over the course of two days, good for 11th place out of 14 teams.
The Bobcats are back in action this Friday and Saturday at the Dartmouth Carnival, with the alpine events held at Dartmouth Skiway.
