LEWISTON, Maine -- Bates men's basketball junior forward
Babacar Pouye is the Maine Co-Player of the Week, as announced Tuesday by the Maine Men's Basketball Coaches and Writers Association.
Pouye (Carpinteria, Calif.) shares the honor with Zach McLaughlin of the University of Maine at Farmington. This comes on the heels of Pouye being named the NESCAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week on Monday. Pouye is the first Bobcat to be named the Maine Co-Player of the Week since
Simon McCormick '24 in 2024.
Pouye had a monster week, shooting 14-for-21 from the floor over the course of two games. He got things started with 13 points (in just 18 minutes played) on 5-for-7 shooting and five rebounds in a 100-55 win over Anna Maria. Then he followed that up with 25 points on 9-for-14 shooting and a career-high 16 rebounds, dishing out five assists against Plymouth State in a 95-87 win for the Bobcats.
Bates men's basketball is 2-0 for the first time since the 2015-16 season and they visit Husson Tuesday night for a 7:30 p.m. tip.
