WENHAM, Mass. -- Bates men's basketball opened the 2025–26 season in emphatic fashion Friday evening, powering past Anna Maria College, 100–55, in the Gordon College Classic.
The victory marks the Bobcats' first 1–0 start since the 2019–20 campaign, their largest margin of victory since an 88–42 win over Maine Maritime Academy on January 28, 2020, and their first 100-point performance since a 104–84 win at UNE on November 26, 2018.
Brady Coyne (Sr.) paced the Bobcats with 22 points on 8-of-16 shooting, including six made three-pointers, in 23 total minutes.
Elliott Cravitz (Sr.) added 15 points and knocked down five threes of his own, while
Babacar Pouye (Jr.) provided 13 points and five rebounds in 18 minutes of action for each.
Keenan Sparks (So.) and
Jamari Robinson (Fy.) each chipped in 11 points, giving Bates five players in double figures, in what was the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
Bates out-rebounded Anna Maria, 49–33, recorded nine steals, and forced 18 turnovers, converting them into 23 points. The Bobcats (1-0) shot 49.3% from the field and 43.2% from three (19-for-44) in the rout.
Anna Maria (0-2) was led by Jopaul McKrieth (Jr.-Springfield, Mass.) with 13 points in 22 minutes of play.
The garnet and white returns to the hardwood Saturday at 2:00 p.m. vs. Plymouth State University on the second (and final) day of the Gordon Classic.
