BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Junior
Jack Crum led the way as the Bates men's cross country team placed 17th out of 45 schools in the white race at the Paul Short Run, held Friday morning at Goodman Campus Course.
Crum (Bristol, Vt.) raced to the finish in 25:29.9, good for 67th place in a massive field of 422 runners. Two other Bobcats also finished in the top 100, with sophomore
Max Hoffman (Wellesley, Mass.) taking 75th in 25:31.3 and junior
Nathaniel Aronson (West Hartford, Conn.) crossed the finish line in 25:43.3, enough for 95th place.
Senior captain
Ross Tejeda (Milton, Mass.) and sophomore
Nate Roberts (Summit, N.J.) rounded out the scoring with times of 25:51.5 and 25:55.8, good for 110th and 119th respectively.
Bates finished fourth out of the seven NESCAC schools at the meet in the white race.
A number of Bobcats entered the men's open 8K race, with first-year
Nicholas Walker (Winchester, Mass.) pacing Bates with a time of 25:45.2, placing him 135th in a field of nearly 600 runners.
The Bobcats are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 18 when they compete at the Connecticut College Invitational.
