Freddie Curtis turned in a pair of strong rounds to pace the Bates men's golf team at the Williams Fall Invitational, held Saturday and Sunday at Taconic Golf Club.
The Bobcats shot 53 over par as a team of five, finishing 14th out of 19 schools and just three strokes behind host Williams.
Curtis (Harvard, Mass.) finished in the top half of the field, tying for 41st out of 99 competitors by shooting six over par on Saturday and seven over par on Sunday. First-year
Sean Resnick (Walpole, Mass.) and sophomore
Arthur Jenkins (Shreveport, La.) both finished one stroke behind Curtis, with Jenkins turning in the best round of the weekend for Bates when he shot just two over par on Saturday. Resnick was the strongest performer for the Bobcats on Sunday, shooting four over par over the final 18 holes.
Senior captain
Will Phillips (Portland, Ore.) was hot on the heels of the top three finishers for Bates, finishing two strokes back of Curtis and one stroke back of Resnick and Jenkins.
The Bobcats are back in action this Saturday and Sunday when they compete in the Bowdoin Invitational at Brunswick Golf Club.
