BRUNSWICK, Maine -- A trio of Bobcats took home state championships as the Bates women's track and field team took third place out of nine schools Saturday at the Maine State Pine Tree Classic, hosted by Bowdoin College.
Bates scored 130 points as a team, just one point behind second-place Colby. Host Bowdoin won the meet with 161 points.
Meet Highlights
- Senior Chrissy Aman (Hanover, N.H.) won the state title in the 800 meters in 2:18.34.
- Sophomore Kylie Musante (Brentwood, Tenn.) won the state title in the 1,500 meters in a personal-record time of 4:47.04.
- Senior Livia Kozick (Portsmouth, N.H.) won the state title in the triple jump with a leap of 34-9.5 (10.60m). First-year Alannah Ardrey (New York City) took third in the event with a jump of 32-6.5 (9.92m).
- Senior captain Maddie Lee (Providence, R.I.) took second in the 400 meters in 1:00.34.
- Sophomore Moriah Scharn (Dunstable, Mass.) placed second in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.03 seconds.
- Musante, Kozick, junior Julia Brophy (Waitsfield, Vt.), and Aman teamed up to take second in the 4x400 relay in 4:13.28.
- Sophomore Carli Ciavarelli (Ridgefield, Conn.) and senior Alma Mackic (Lake Forest, Ill.) placed second and third in the hammer throw, respectively. Ciavarelli checked in with a top throw of 144-9 (44.11m) while Mackic recorded a top effort of 142-6 (43.44m). Mackic also scored points for the Bobcats when she took fourth place in the discus with a top throw of 111-11 (34.11m), good for 10th on the Bates all-time performance list.
The Bobcats are back in action next Saturday when they head to Medford, Mass. for the NESCAC Championships.
