PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- Bates College men's squash wrapped up the team portion of its season on a high note Sunday as the No. 26 Bobcats clinched a third place finish in the 2024 National Collegiate Men's Team Squash Championships with a 5-4 victory over No. 28 Hamilton in the consolation round final.
Alec Spiro and
Harris Ramlee breezed to 3-0 wins for the garnet and white at positions No. 1 and 5, respectively. Spiro, Bates' junior team captain, coasted past Hamilton's William Rice (Sr.-Baltimore, Md.) by scores of 11-8, 11-4, 11-8. Ramlee defeated Nicholas Carabatsos (Sr.-North Andover, Mass.) with victories of 11-7, 11-5, 11-8.
The Bobcats'Â remaining three triumphs all ended with a matching 3-1 final score.
Nicolai Boe closed out his first collegiate campaign with an 11-9, 8-11, 11-9, 11-6 defeat of Tobey Suratt (So.-Brooklyn, N.Y.) at No. 3.
Maks Celm, also a first year, sealed a win in the No. 6 slot (9-11, 11-8, 11-7, 11-7) over Atreyus Bhavsar (So.-Medina, Minn.).
Ashton Monteiro, playing at the No. 4 position for Bates, topped Jacob Shulman (So.-Needham, Mass.) with scores of 11-8, 11-6, 9-11, 11-4.
The Bobcats (5-14) now look ahead to next month's CSA Individual Championships, Mar. 8-10, also in Philadelphia. Â
