CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- No. 23 Bates College recorded its second-straight win Saturday as the Bobcats doubled up No. 30 Denison, 6-3, in a match hosted by Harvard University.
The garnet and white enjoyed a clean sweep from positions two through seven, with
Ryan Kim (No. 5),
Max Good (No. 6), and
Maks Celm (No. 7) authoring 3-0 shutouts in their respective outings.
Angad Sethi improves to 3-1 in his young collegiate career as the first-year won his third-straight with a 11-13, 12-10, 11-6, 12-10 decision at No. 4 vs. Denison's Alex DeLuca.
Labeeb Ali, for the second-consecutive day, needed five games to seal a win at the No. 3 slot. The senior, who took an immediate 2-0 lead in his match, was unable to put away Charlie Fenwick as the Denison sophomore fought back to tie the contest at 2-2. Ali ultimately avoided heartbreak as he outlasted his opponent in the fifth-and-final game, 12-10, to secure back-to-back 3-2 triumphs, and extend his personal winning streak to three.
The Bobcats (2-2) will take the court for a third-straight day Sunday afternoon as the garnet-and-white take on No. 4 Trinity at 1 p.m. in Hartford, Conn.
