LEWISTON, Maine -- Six Bobcats have been selected to the College Sports Communicators Women's Soccer Academic All-District® Team, announced Tuesday. Seniors
Mollie Franklin,
Grace Gesmondi,
Ruby Reimann, and
Ellie Tyska, along with junior
Tess Griffith and sophomore
Rachel Suh, made the grade for Bates.
Franklin, a biology major, owns a grade-point average of 3.89. A team captain for the Bobcats, the native of Framingham, Mass. is a two-time NESCAC Fall All-Academic Team honoree. Starting all 15 games this season, the midfielder recorded a goal and a team-best four assists for Bates. Mollie appeared in 51 contests over her collegiate career, 42 of which were in a starting role.
Gesmondi, also a biology major (minor in chemistry), earned a GPA of 3.76. The senior defender started all 15 matches this fall, playing a pivotal role on a back line that yielded 1.13 goals-per-game. A reigning NESCAC Fall All-Academic Team selection, the resident of Narragansett, R.I. appeared in 30 career games (25 starts).
Reimann, with her 3.62 GPA, lands on this elite list. A psychology major and team captain, Ruby started 14 games in goal for the Bobcats, collecting 68 total saves, a pair of shutouts, and a 1.63 goals-against average. A native of Oak Bluffs, Mass., the former NESCAC All-Academic pick has made 36 appearances (32 starts) for the garnet and white, compiling just short of 2,773 minutes (2772:19) in net for Bates over her collegiate career.
Tyska, a psychology major, makes her first appearance on the Academic All-District® Team with a grade-point average of 3.61. A 2023 NESCAC Fall All-Academic Team selection, the starting defender recorded an assist over her 13 appearances (11 starts). Hailing from Hudson, Mass., Ellie finishes her time as a Bobcat with 43 total contests (41 starts).
Griffith, majoring in psychology, lands on this list with a GPA of 3.64. The defender from Londonderry, N.H. cracked the Bobcats' starting lineup this preseason and started all 14 matches in which she appeared, compiling 1,155 overall minutes.
Suh authored a GPA of 3.80 as an economics major. Appearing in all 15 matches (14 starts), the midfielder from Bellevue, Wash. contributed a goal and two assists on the year. Rachel's tally proved to be the game-winner (88th minute) in a 1-0 victory vs. Trinity back on Sept. 7.
The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Women's Soccer teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes women's soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
