INDIANAPOLIS -- Bates men's cross country senior captain
Andrew Mottur has qualified as an individual to compete at the NCAA Championships, being held this Saturday in Terre Haute, Ind.
Mottur (Rumford, R.I.) qualified on the strength of his performance at the NCAA East Regional Championship, where he took ninth place out of 228 runners with a time of 25:01.3 in the 8K race. Seventy individuals, the first seven student-athletes from each region who are not part of a qualifying team, were selected to compete at NCAAs.
While the Bobcats did not qualify as a team this year, Mottur will be racing on the biggest stage of collegiate cross country for the second time in his career. He competed at the NCAA Championships with the Bobcats as a sophomore in 2022.
He will be joined by women's cross country's
Leah White '27 (Ann Arbor, Mich.), who qualified as an individual by placing seventh in the 6K race at regionals on Saturday.
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology is hosting the championships on Nov. 23 at LaVern Gibson Championship Course. A live web stream of the championships will occur on
NCAA.com beginning at 11 a.m. eastern time until the conclusion of the awards ceremony.
