Mottur finishes in upper half of field at NCAA Men's Cross Country Championships

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Bates men's cross country senior captain Andrew Mottur finished in 104th place out of 294 competitors Saturday at the NCAA Championships, held at LaVern Gibson Championship Course.

Mottur (Rumford, R.I.) improved significantly on his performance at NCAAs as a sophomore two years ago, when he finished in 256th place. This time, he was in the upper half of the field, crossing the finish line of the 8K race in 25:14.0.

It marks the end of a highly successful cross country season for Mottur, as he was both an All-State and an All-Region performer for the Bobcats. Mottur's season also included his career-best 8K time of 24:51.2, achieved at the Connecticut College Invitational.

Mottur and the Bobcats now look ahead to the track and field season, which begins in Boston on Saturday, Dec. 7 at both the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener at Boston University and the New Balance Early Bird Invite at the TRACK at new balance.
