SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- For the second straight year, inclement weather limited the Bates men's golf team to just one round at the Skidmore Invitational, and the Bobcats placed 14th out of 21 teams Saturday in their second-to-last tournament of the fall.
Senior captains
Will Phillips (Portland, Ore.) and
Freddie Curtis (Harvard, Mass.) both shot a score of 79 to pace the Bobcats at Saratoga Spa State Park, good for a tie for 45th out of 120 competitors.
The highlight of the day belonged to sophomore
Charlie Weinman (Rye, N.Y.), who eagled the par-5 third hole. He finished his round with a score of 81, good for 63rd place. Three double bogeys slowed Weinman down. Phillips had the steadiest round of the day, as he did not have any double bogeys, recorded nine pars, and tallied one birdie. Curtis had two birdies, but did record one double bogey.
Bates is back in action this Saturday and Sunday at the NEIGA Championship, held at The Captains Golf Course on Cape Cod.
