HADLEY, Mass. -- Bates women's basketball sophomore center
Elsa Daulerio is the NESCAC Player of the Week, as announced Monday by the New England Small College Athletic Conference. She is also the Maine Co-Player of the Week, as announced Tuesday by the Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association.
Daulerio (Harpswell, Maine) began her week with a double-double (10 points, a season-high 12 rebounds) in an 87-62 win last Monday over Rivier.
It got better from there.
She poured in 18 points on 8-14 shooting, grabbed eight rebounds, dished out three assists, and blocked two shots Friday night in an 82-66 win over Hamilton. Then Daulerio delivered a game-high 19 points on 7-12 shooting, tallying eight rebounds in a 59-41 win over No. 16 nationally ranked Amherst on Saturday.
This is the first NESCAC Player of the Week honor of Daulerio's career, and she is the women's basketball team's first NESCAC Player of the Week since
Meghan Graff '23, who earned the award on Jan. 23, 2023.
Daulerio shares the Maine Co-Player of the Week award with Faye Veilleux of the University of New England. This is the third time Daulerio has been honored by the MWBCA. She was named to the All-Rookie team last year and was the Maine Rookie of the Week on Nov. 22, 2022.
Daulerio is averaging 12.1 points per game and 7.1 rebounds per game this season. She leads the NESCAC in blocked shots, averaging 2.1 per game.
The Bobcats (14-2, 3-0 NESCAC) have beaten their three conference opponents by an average of 21.7 points per game. They have the number one scoring offense and the number one scoring defense in NESCAC play so far this season, with Daulerio being a big reason for that success. Bates is 3-0 in NESCAC action for the third time in program history. Their 14-2 overall record is the team's best start to a season since 2004-05.
Bates is back in action Tuesday night when the Bobcats visit Saint Joseph's College of Maine for a 6pm tip.
