WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Senior
Alex Voight-Shelley shot rounds of 77 and 78 to pace the Bates women's golf team at the Williams Invitational, with the Bobcats taking eighth place out of 22 teams in the field.
Bates shot 653 as a team over the course of two days, seven strokes ahead of ninth-place NYU and nine strokes back of seventh-place Amherst. Williams won the tournament, hosted at Taconic Golf Club, with a two-day score of 597.
Voight-Shelley (State College, Pa.) tied for 14th place out of 125 golfers. Her two-day score of 155 was just four strokes back of a tie for third place. Sophomore
Ruby Haylock (Hartford, Maine) finished just behind her teammate, tying for 19th place with a two-day score of 156. Haylock had the low round of the tournament for the Bobcats, shooting a 76 on Saturday. Junior
Maddy Kwei (Pasadena, Calif.) finished in the top-50, tying for 46th place with a two-day score of 165.
The Bobcats are back in action next Saturday and Sunday at the Wesleyan Invitational, hosted at Lyman Orchards Golf Club.
