HADLEY, Mass. -- Bates first-year
Madison Hollis won NESCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week honors Monday from the New England Small College Athletic Conference, after propelling the Bobcats to a 3-1 week, including a doubleheader sweep of Wesleyan and a victory over rival Bowdoin.
Hollis (McMinnville, Tenn.) simply did it all for Bates last week. She won both her starts in the circle, tossing five innings of one-run ball, striking out five in a 13-1 mercy rule win over Bowdoin on Friday. Then she followed that up with a complete game shutout of Wesleyan on Saturday, striking out a season-high eight in seven innings of scoreless ball.
She hit safely in all four games as well, going 2-2 with two runs scored in the win over Bowdoin and 4-6 with a run scored and four RBI in the doubleheader sweep of Wesleyan.
Hollis is the first Bates softball player to earn NESCAC Pitcher of the Week honors since
Kirsten Pelletier '20 on April 8, 2019.
The Bobcats (10-6, 4-2 NESCAC) are off to their best start in conference play since 2012. They are at Colby this Wednesday for a doubleheader starting at 4pm.
