Maddy Kwei is tied for fourth out of 43 competitors through one round of the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association Championship, being held Saturday and Sunday at The Captains Golf Course on Cape Cod.
The Bobcats sit in fourth place out of eight schools competing with 18 holes to play. Bates tallied a score of 331 on Saturday, four strokes back of third-place Babson.
Voight-Shelley (State College, Pa.) fired a 75 to pace the Bobcats at three over par. She is just one stroke back of second place and five strokes behind the leader, Madeline Adam of Hartford, who was two under par. Kwei (Pasadena, Calif.) finished Saturday's round with a 76, matching three other golfers and one stroke back of her teammate.
The Bobcats wrap up the NEIGA Championship on Sunday, with their first tee time set for 9:48am.
