AMHERST, Mass. -- The No. 18 ranked Bates College men's squash squad has now lost two matches in a row for the first time all season as No. 19 Amherst doubled up the Bobcats, 6-3, in Sunday action.
The setback sends the garnet and white to 9-4 on the year while the host-Mammoths (winners of three-straight) move to 7-3 overall.
Despite the overall result,
Alec Spiro (So.-Portland, Ore.) enjoyed a solid showing atop the Bobcats' lineup with an 11-9, 11-5, 11-4 sweep of Kedar Nagaraj at No. 1.
No. 3
Harris Ramlee (Southville City, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) needed the entire five-game slate to put away Amherst's Neal Malani, doing so by scores of 11-7, 7-11, 7-11, 11-5, 11-5.
Sultan Hashmi (Tiburon, Calif.) also went five stanzas to pocket a win for Bates, as the senior (playing at No. 8) outlasted William Okurowski (12-10, 8-11, 11-6, 10-12, 11-6).
The Bobcats return to the Bates Squash Center on Wednesday to host No. 21 Colby, at 7:00 p.m.
