LEWISTON, Maine -- The Bates women's indoor track and field team won three events and finished in third place Saturday at the Bates Invitational, held at Merrill Gymnasium.
The Bobcats tallied 134.5 points as a team, just three points behind second-place Husson. The University of Maine finished first with 176 points. Bates finished ahead of both Bowdoin (100 points) and UMaine-Farmington (30 points).
Meet Highlights
- Senior captain Alice Cockerham (Kingfield, Maine) won the 200 meters in 27.37 seconds, and took third in the 60 meter dash, where she ran a personal best 8.27 seconds in the prelims.
- Junior Chrissy Aman (Hanover, N.H.) won the mile in 5:06.94. The Bobcats took six out of the top seven spots in the event.
- Senior Megan Lacey (Jackson, Miss.) won the long jump with a top leap of 16-5 (5.00m).
- Senior captain Abbey Otterbein (Beverly, Mass.) scored 3,070 points in the pentathlon on Friday, taking second place and landing fourth on the Bates all-time performance list in the event.
- Senior Lily D'Addario (Locust Valley, N.Y.) took second in the 60 meter dash with a personal record time of 8.15 seconds, tying her for sixth on the Bates all-time performance list.
- Junior Isabel May (Erving, Mass.) finished second in the 3,000 meters in 11:07.40.
- First-year Moriah Scharn (Dunstable, Mass.) took second in the 60-meter hurdles and moved into a tie for fourth place on the Bates all-time performance list with her time of 9.32 seconds.
The Bobcats are back in action a week from Sunday on Jan. 29 at Middlebury's New England Small College Invite, being held at the TRACK at new balance in Boston.
