Lewiston, Maine -- #14 Bates College men's squash collected a 7-2 victory for the second-straight day as the Bobcats sent off #23 Middlebury College Sunday at the Bates Squash Center.
Bates, which defeated #26 Hamilton by the same score on Saturday, is now victorious in eight of its last nine outings as the Bobcats move to 9-2 with the effort. The Panthers go to 7-3 overall after the setback.
The Bobcats' lineup was bookended by 3-0 victories with
Alec Spiro (So.-Portland, Ore.) enjoying an 11-8, 11-8, 11-3 win in the No. 1 position, and
Sultan Hashmi (Sr.-Tiburon, Calif.) authoring a shutout performance of 11-8, 11-5, 12-10 in the No. 9 slot.
Jonathan Walker (Sr.-Kingston, Jamaica), at No. 2 for Bates, put away Middlebury's Will Lichstein in four games (11-7, 11-4, 10-12, 11-2).
Harris Ramlee (So.-Southville City, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) followed at No. 3 with a 3-1 victory of his own (7-11, 11-4, 11-5, 11-5).
The Bobcats' first-year duo from Greenwich, Conn., of
Ashton Monteiro and
Chris Kenny, needed five games each to prove victorious, doing so at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively.
Labeeb Ali (So.-Plano, Texas) followed suit at No. 6, outlasting Theo Kogan for the win (11-5, 11-7, 3-11, 2-11, 13-11).
The garnet and white, having already hosted three home matches in as many days, next welcomes #17 MIT to town Tuesday for a 5:00 p.m. contest.
