Six in a Row! #14 Bobcats Extend Streak With 6-3 Triumph at #24 Hobart

Spiro Secures Win at #1 Spot ... Positions #5 through #9 Pocket Victories for Bates

GENEVA, N.Y. -- The No. 14 ranked Bates College men's squash squad now owns its longest winning streak since the 2019-20 campaign as the Bobcats stretched their current run to six-in-a-row with Tuesday's 6-3 triumph at #24 Hobart College.

The garnet and white enjoyed a clean sweep in positions five through nine, while Alec Spiro (So.-Portland, Ore.) secured a 3-1 win in the #1 spot after an epic fourth game, as the Bobcats move to an impressive 7-1 on the season. The Statesmen go to 3-6 after the loss.

Leading two-games-to-one in his respective match, Spiro eventually outlasted Hobart's Sebi De La Vega in the fourth game, 19-17, to pocket the well-deserved "W".

First-year Chris Kenny (Greenwich, Conn.) and sophomore Labeeb Ali (Plano, Texas) each proved victorious by identical 3-1 final scores in the No. 5 and No. 6 positions, respectively.

Jairaj Singh (Jaipur, Rajasthan, India), playing in the No. 7 position, collected a win in five games as the senior captain outlasted Sayf Elhawary . Garrett Wenberg (So.-Rye, N.Y.) registered the Bobcats' only shutout performance on the day with a 3-0 victory at No. 8.

In the No. 9 slot, Sultan Hashmi (Sr.-Tiburon, Calif.) dismissed James Mazzarelli, three-games-to-one.

The Bobcats look to match its seven-match winning streak from three years ago (January, 2020) when they host #18 Williams Friday night in the Bates Squash Center. Start time is set for 6:00 p.m.
