Jordan Wilson both set personal records in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, the multi-athletes shined, and the Bates women's track and field team tied for 12th out of 33 schools at the New England Outdoor Championships, hosted Friday and Saturday by Williams College.
Reynolds (Cumberland, Maine) surged from seventh into third on the Bates all-time performance list with her time of 11:11.59, good for third place out of 14 competitors in the race. Wilson (Medfield, Mass.) crossed the finish line in 11:21.63, earning fourth place in the event.Â
Over the course of two days, Bates multi-athletes junior
Abbey Otterbein (Beverly, Mass.) and sophomore
Livia Kozick (Portsmouth, N.H.) shined in the heptathlon yet again for the Bobcats. Otterbein set a personal record with 3,821 points, good for third place out of 10 competitors. She currently ranks fourth all-time at Bates in the event. Kozick also set a personal record with 3,804 points, finishing in fourth place and moving up to fifth on the Bates all-time performance list.Â
Otterbein finished second in three different events in the heptathlon, taking runner-up honors in the shot put (33-05/10.07m), the 200 meters (27.38 seconds) and the 800 meters (2:30.34).Â
Meanwhile, Kozick's best performance came in the 800 meters, where she took third in 2:33.20.Â
Other top 8 performances for Bates at New Englands included:
- Senior captain Amanda Kaufman (Somers, Conn.), senior captain Rebecca Willis (West Newbury, Mass.), senior Mary Corcoran (Brookline, Mass.), and senior captain Elise Lambert (Amherst, N.H.) placed sixth in the 4x400 relay in 4:04.40.Â
- Sophomore Chrissy Aman (Hanover, N.H.) set a new personal record and placed seventh in the 800 meters with her time of 2:16.86.Â
- Willis took eighth in the 400 hurdles in 1:06.18.
The Bobcats scored 28 points as a team, tying with Springfield for 12th place. Bates finished just two points back of 11th place Connecticut College and three points behind 10th place Wellesley.Â
Bates is back in action at the Open New England Championships next Friday and Saturday in Smithfield, R.I.
