SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- Senior captain
Elise Lambert and junior
Jillian Richardson both earned All-New England honors for the Bates women's outdoor track and field team at the Open New England Championships, hosted Friday and Saturday on the campus of Bryant University.
On Saturday, Lambert (Amherst, N.H.) ran the 800 meters in 2:12.16, good for fourth place out of 25 competitors in the event. It's the fastest time for Lambert in the 800 so far this outdoor season.
She joined Richardson (Auburn, Maine) in earning all New England honors as the cross country All-American set a personal record in the 10,000 meters on Friday. Richardson raced to the finish in 37:46.16, taking fourth place out of 16 competitors in the event.
Lambert and Richardson both scored five points for the Bobcats, as Bates tied for 26th place with Yale, Wesleyan, and Brandeis out of 46 scoring teams.
Junior
Jordan Wilson (Medfield, Mass.) just missed scoring for Bates, taking ninth in the 3,000 meter steeplechase in 11:23.45.
Bates track and field athletes have one more chance to qualify for the NCAA Division III Championships when the Bobcats travel to Cambridge for the MIT Final Qualifying Meet this Thursday.
