Amanda Kaufman starred for the Bates women's outdoor track and field team Saturday at the NESCAC Championships.
Richardson (Auburn, Maine) ran the 10,000 meters for the first time in her collegiate career and finished in third place, good for All-NESCAC honors. Her time of 37:54.86 is good for 10th place on the Bates All-Time Performance List in the event.Â
Kaufman (Somers, Conn.) ran the best non-wind-aided 100 hurdles time of her collegiate career in the final, racing to the finish in 14.91 seconds and taking third place, enough for All-NESCAC honors. Kaufman ranks second all-time at Bates in the event.
Other points-scoring performances for top-eight event finishes by the Bobcats included:
- Senior captain Elise Lambert (Amherst, N.H.) finished 5th in the 800 meters in 2:13.90.
- Junior Jordan Wilson (Medfield, Mass.) took seventh in the 3,000 meter steeplechase in a personal record time of 11:25.94, the sixth fastest performance in Bates history.Â
- Sophomore Maddie Lee (Providence, R.I.), junior Alice Cockerham (Kingfield, Maine), junior Lily D'Addario (Locust Valley, N.Y.), and sophomore Sarah Waite (Concord, N.H.) placed fifth in the 4x100 relay in 49.97 seconds.
- Wilson, sophomore Chrissy Aman (Hanover, N.H.), senior Mary Corcoran (Brookline, Mass.), and Lambert finished eighth in the 4x800 relay in 9:52.53
The Bobcats scored 23 points as a team, ahead of rival Colby and ninth out of 11 schools overall.Â
Bates is back in action this Friday and Saturday at the New England Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Williams College.
