LEWISTON, Maine -- The Bates softball team has played just a combined 20 games the last two years due to the pandemic. This year the Bobcats are gearing up to play more than 30 games, starting Thursday afternoon with a doubleheader at Emerson that gets underway at 4pm.
In the circle, the Bobcats are led by senior RHP
Danielle Polirer (Bellmore, N.Y.), who made five appearances and started three contests during last year's 12-game campaign. Polirer struck out 11 batters in seven innings and did not allow an earned run in a complete game against Saint Joseph's and earned the win with two innings pitched, striking out two in a 6-4 victory over Colby. Polirer is a neuroscience major and shines in the classroom. She was named an Easton All-America Scholar-Athlete by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association in 2019 and earned NESCAC All-Academic recognition in 2020 and 2021.
Polirer is one of six seniors on the team, who all remember what a full season feels like. As a first-year in 2019, Polirer went 2-0 in eight appearances out of the bullpen.
On offense, senior captains
