WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Sophomore
Joanna Atwater rallied from down a set to prevail at No. 2 singles but the Bates women's tennis team fell at No. 15 nationally ranked Williams 8-1 Saturday morning in NESCAC action.
Atwater (Short Hills, N.J.) dropped her first set 6-1 to Zoe Bennett at Williams. Then she stormed back to take the next two sets and win the match 1-6, 6-2, 6-4. Senior captain
Anna Rozin (Toronto, Ontario) also took her opponent to three sets, battling Katherine Orgielewicz at No. 1 singles, eventually falling 6-2, 3-6, 6-0.

Ally Friedman (East Hampton, N.Y.) played well at No. 1, falling to Bennett and Yuu Ishikawa 8-5. Atwater and junior
Abigail Zerbey (North Andover, Mass.) fell just short at No. 2 to Orgielewicz and Jenny Tian by the same score.
First-year
Elizabeth Frekko (Lake Forest, Ill.) also played well for Bates (2-3, 0-1 NESCAC) against the Ephs (1-1, 1-0 NESCAC) on Saturday, dropping her match at No. 6 singles by a count of 7-5, 6-4 to Maya Jamroz.
The Bobcats are back in action Sunday at 10am when they visit No. 10 nationally ranked Middlebury.
