PHILADELPHIA -- The No. 21 nationally ranked Bates men's squash team fell 5-4 to No. 25 Middlebury in the Summers Cup consolation semifinals on Saturday despite sweeping four matches on the evening against the Panthers.
The Bobcats (5-12) also didn't get swept in any of the matches but Middlebury (5-11) picked up just enough matches to defeat Bates for the first time in three tries this season.Â

Peter Koenigsbauer (Seattle, Wash.) won at the highest position on the ladder among the Bobcats, sweeping Middlebury's Will Lichstein 3-0 (12-10, 11-7, 11-7) at the No. 3 position. Junior
Jonathan Walker (Kingston, Jamaica) won 3-0 (11-8, 11-5, 12-10) at the No. 5 position over Omar Nemr and junior
Jairaj Singh (Jaipur, India) also took home a victory, defeating Julian Sandoval 3-0 (11-8, 11-5, 11-5) at the No. 6 position.
Meanwhile, the Bobcats showed off their depth by getting a 3-0 (11-7, 11-7, 12-10) win from sophomore
Matthew Lazor (West Hartford, Conn.) at the No. 9 position over Middlebury's Alex Stimpson.
Bates takes on Dickinson Sunday at 3pm to wrap up the Summers Cup.
