BRUNSWICK, Maine -- The No. 22 nationally ranked Bates men's squash team extended its winning streak to four-straight Wednesday evening as the Bobcats doubled up No. 21 Bowdoin, 6-3, in the Lubin Family Squash Center.
The garnet and white enjoyed a clean sweep in positions four through nine as the Bobcats move to an impressive 5-1 on the season. The Polar Bears go to 3-3 after the loss.
Ashton Monteiro (Greenwich, Conn.) enjoyed a 3-1 win in the No. 4 position as the first-year dismissed Bowdoin's Henry Somerby by scores of 14-12, 11-5, 9-11, 11-5.
First-year
Chris Kenny (Greenwich, Conn.) and sophomore
Labeeb Ali (Plano, Texas) each proved victorious with 3-0 wins in the No. 5 and No. 6 positions, respectively. Kenny blanked Abhiroop Reddy (11-8,11-8, 11-7) while Ali defeated Aryan Singh with scores of 11-5, 11-8, 11-5.
Jairaj Singh (Jaipur, Rajasthan, India), playing in the No. 7 position, collected a 3-0 victory of his own as the senior captain moved past Luc Agudelo
(11-6, 11-7, 11-4).
Garrett Wenberg (So.-Rye, N.Y.) needed five games to defeat Joseph French (9-11, 5-11, 11-4, 11-6, 11-9) in comeback fashion in the No. 8 position.
In the No. 9 slot,
Sultan Hashmi (Sr.-Tiburon, Calif.) recorded the quickest victory of the night for the Bobcats (21 min.) with a 3-0 shutout of Justin Barr (11-4, 11-8, 11-9).
The Bobcats (2-1) are back in action on Monday, Jan. 9 (12:00 p.m.) when they trek to No. 19 St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y.
