HARTFORD, Conn. -- No. 22 Bates College, playing its second match in as many days to open the 2022-23 season, visited No. 6 Trinity College Sunday as the host Bantams blanked the Bobcats, 9-0, in men's squash action.

Trinity (4-0), which has dropped just one set over its first four outings, swept seven matches against the Bobcats.

Senior captain, Jairaj Singh (Jaipur, Rajasthan, India) pushed his opponent to four sets in the No. 8 position vs. Will Jones. Jones took the first two sets, 13-11, 11-8. Singh avoided the sweep by taking the third set, 11-7, before succumbing in the fourth by an 11-7 score.

Sultan Hashmi (Tiburon, Calif.), also a senior captain for the Bobcats, opened his match in the No. 9 position by taking the first set, 11-8, vs. Douglas Conigliaro. The Trinity sophomore answered with wins of 11-5, 12-10, 11-9 to edge Hashmi in a tightly-contested competition.

The garnet and white (1-1) returns to the Bates Squash Center on Friday, Dec. 2 (5:30 p.m.) to host No. 25 Navy in what will be the Bobcats' home opener.
