GORHAM, Maine -- The Bates women's track and field team competed at the USM Invitational on Sunday, winning three races in preparation for the upcoming Maine State Meet.
Junior Rowan Hassman (Coppell, Texas) led a 1-2-3-4 Bates finish in the mile run, racing to the finish in 5:34.98. Sophomore Kahryn Cullenberg (Chesterville, Maine) took second in 5:35.59, first-year Phoebe Pohl (Wayland, Mass.) finished third in 5:37.20, and first-year Lily Miller (Claremont, Calif.) placed fourth in 5:41.05.
Junior Abbey Otterbein (Beverly, Mass.) won the 400 meters in 1:03.26 and first-year Isabelle Demeritt (Acton, Mass.) led a Bates 1-2 finish in the 3000 meter run, winning in 10:47.60. It was a photo finish with teammate first-year Olivia Reynolds (Cumberland, Maine) who finished with the same time as Demeritt.
Sophomore Enisa Shoshi (Coraopolis, Pa.) took second in the 55-meter hurdles, recording a prelim. time of 9.35 seconds and a finals time of 9.42.
Bates returns to action this Friday at 5pm when the Bobcats travel to Waterville for the Maine State Meet. The Bobcat women are looking for their eighth straight indoor state championship, after tying for the title with Bowdoin the last time the meet was held, in 2020.
