LEWISTON, Maine -- Bates women's basketball senior guard
Mia Roy was named the Maine Player of the Week Tuesday by the Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association.
Roy (Bedford, N.H.) scored a career-high 32 points in the women's basketball team's
91-82 win over Wesleyan Sunday afternoon. She was 9-for-16 (56%) from the floor, 4-for-8 (50%) from the three-point line, and 10-for-10 from the free throw line in the win. Roy also tallied six rebounds, an assist, a steal, and a block.
Bates (8-3) is off to its best start since the 2010-11 season and the 91 points scored by the Bobcats on Sunday were the most in one NESCAC game for the program since 2002. Roy is the second Bobcat to earn Maine State Player of the Week honors this season, joining fellow senior
Ariana Dalia (Brick, N.J.), who earned the honor on Nov. 29, 2021.
The Bobcats, who are receiving votes in this week's d3hoops.com poll, return to action Tuesday evening when they visit Saint Joseph's College of Maine at 5:30 pm.
