HADLEY, Mass. -- Bates senior
Genesis Paulino received All-NESCAC honors as the top performer in the New England Small College Athletic Conference in the discus throw, the league announced in its all-conference track and field awards on Monday.
Paulino (Lawrence, Mass.) threw the discus a career-best distance of 125'9" on April 24 in a tri-meet at Bowdoin. The effort stands as the best in the NESCAC this season, by a margin of over three feet longer than second-place Emma Hargreaves of Bowdoin.
In lieu of no NESCAC Championship meet being held this spring, the 2021 All-NESCAC performers were determined based on cumulative results from meets held through May 9. The individuals with the top three marks in each event listed on the NESCAC Outdoor Track & Field Performance List provided by TFRRS.org were deemed all-conference performers.
Paulino also ranked fourth in the NESCAC in the hammer throw (134'6"), one place away from an additional All-NESCAC honor. Two of her teammates also ranked fourth in the NESCAC in an event: senior
Ellie Strauss (Port Matilda, Pa.) in the javelin throw and junior
Elise Lambert (Amherst, N.H.) in the 800 meters.
Paulino ranks fourth in team history in the discus and 10th in the shot put (35'7.75").
