CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- The No. 20 nationally ranked Bates men's squash team lost 8-1 to No. 17 Williams in the semifinals of Summers Cup play in CSA Men's Team Nationals Saturday at Harvard.
The Bobcats (11-8) will play against No. 18 Navy Sunday at 2:30 to determine third place in the C Division and 19th and 20th places in the final team rankings.
Senior Mahmoud Yousry (Cairo, Egypt) earned the Bobcats' lone point, coming out ahead of a back-and-forth battle with William Means at the No. 3 position to win 11-9, 9-11, 11-9, 7-11, 11-9.
Taking games from their opponents in 3-1 losses were senior Graham Bonnell (Southport, Conn.) at No. 1, junior Omar Attia (Cairo, Egypt) at No. 4, sophomore Peter Koenigsbauer (Seattle, Wash.) at No. 7, and first-year Sultan Hashmi (Belvedere, Calif.) at No. 8.
